Purpose and practice
About Techframegrid
Why Techframegrid provides careful, bounded guidance for employees navigating fixed-term work in Germany.
A place to sort the facts before choosing a route
Techframegrid was established in Berlin to help English-speaking employees make sense of fixed-term contract timelines in Germany. The purpose is deliberately narrow: explain the structure of the issue, improve preparation and make the boundary between general guidance and legal representation unmistakable.
Our working approach
Every session begins with documents and dates, not assumptions. We pay close attention to the original agreement, amendments, signature sequence, stated reason for a fixed term, changes in duties and the point at which employment is due to end.
The work is led by employment-relations consultant Clara Weiss, who has supported internationally recruited staff and workplace representatives with contract orientation, meeting preparation and referrals since 2017. Clara’s work focuses on making German employment terminology understandable in English. She is not acting as a Rechtsanwältin and does not provide court representation.
Useful guidance has boundaries
We do not promise that a fixed term is valid or invalid after a short call. A German labour court determines disputed legal outcomes, and a specialist lawyer is the right person for formal advice. Our role is to help a client arrive at that next step with an orderly chronology, relevant questions and fewer avoidable gaps.
Values in practice
Specificity over reassurance. A signature date is more useful than a general promise that everything will be fine.
Proportionate data. We ask only for documents relevant to the consultation and encourage clients to redact unrelated identifiers.
Referral without delay. When a possible court deadline is visible, we say that early and clearly.
Respect for working realities. Fixed-term staff may be balancing residence status, family plans, project funding and workplace relationships. Guidance should acknowledge those pressures without overstating what one consultation can resolve.
